Post-1_The-Language-of-research-paper

Dear All,

today we are going to discuss the language of research paper which is necessary for you to get a better idea about how you can write your own papers in the future.

Work with another student and discuss the following questions:
1. In an average week, how many different kinds of sources do  you read? Which are fml and which are infml?
2. What are some of the differences in topics between different sources?
3. Have you observed any differences in the language in different sources?

Share your answers in the thread. Support your answer with some examples.

  1. If I have some free minutes between my lessons,I open my Yandex and read cards suggested there. The content of cards is usually fashion news, one-day gossips, stupid tests and some interesting reports about unusual or scary experiences of common people, an example of latter you can read there (https://bit.ly/2O5BjiJ). The sources I read are mainly informal, as most of the formal sources I meet demand to subscribe and pay money to get an access, what I’m not ready for.Though the sources I usually read are informal, the language they are written in is more often standard English or less often standard American than it is a dialect, and it is more commonly neutral, only one of the sources I read last week contained some slang or vulgar words.
